Tumbi

Faith Community.

We are a family of friends who embrace our calling to the 2261 postcode area, wholeheartedly believing that God has placed us in Tumbi Umbi to contend for the renewal and restoration of the families and individuals around us.

We gather on Sundays at 9:30am at our Tumbi Facility in

Adelaide Street Tumbi Umbi.

Our corner of The Coast.

With hearts committed to restoring individuals and families through Christ's love, we are grateful for our Tumbi facility. Once a community club, Mingara (the carpet proves it!), this space has been our faith community's home since 1997—a place filled with generations of prayers, praise, and fellowship. Planted in the heart of Tumbi Umbi, we’re surrounded by various types of households—busy, broken, blended, single-parent, empty-nester, multigenerational, and single households. Through partnerships like Better Days Café, NurtureMe, and RTC Speech, our doors welcome many. This facility is more than our home; it’s a home for the community.

Our Gatherings.

Inspired by the early church in Acts 2, we devote ourselves to the apostles' teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer. We gather as one family—every generation, equal in His sight—where everyone plays a part in the life of our household.

While we offer age-appropriate programs for children and youth, we treasure all generations coming together for communion

Our Tumbi Priorities

Prayer, Neighbours, Emerging Generations, Unity, Discipleship.

Everything begins and ends with prayer; spirit-dependent, worship-empowered, contending prayer. Prayer for our neighbours, for emerging generations, for unity across the body of Christ. This is underpinned by a renewed focus on discipleship and teaching - equipping the saints for works of service - this is how we contend.

Our Story.

Celebrating God’s faithfulness, this is our story as the Tumbi faith community.

It all began in a home, and on Easter Sunday 1995, Tuggerah Lakes Christian Fellowship officially launched at Berkeley Vale Community Centre. From there, we moved to Bateau Bay Public School, and in August 1997, we settled into our current home on Adelaide Street, Tumbi Umbi. United by a desire to be part of God’s Kingdom work, we sought to live out simplicity, integrity, honesty, and humility, dynamically expressing our faith in our lives and the world around us. Under the leadership of our founding pastor Bernie Higgins, alongside Ray Carter and a faithful Leadership Team, we focused on six core priorities: Sunday worship, generational programs, small groups, equipping, outreach, and fellowship.

Over the years, we have witnessed God’s faithfulness in so many ways—through heartfelt worship gatherings, supporting Compassion Child Survival Program projects, seeing lives restored through Healing Rooms, and serving our community through food van ministries at Toukley Caravan Park.

In 2012, we honoured Bernie and Sue Higgins for their faithful leadership as they stepped aside, entering a 2–3 year season of discernment. During this time, we merged with Coast Community Church, becoming its Northern site, led by Kevin and Kellie Sheehan.

In 2015, God provided the means for us to purchase our Adelaide Street facility, allowing us to deepen our roots in the local area. This enabled us to welcome community partnerships like Rose Football Academy and NurtureMe. In 2019, a government grant helped us plan for Better Days Café, our social enterprise that opened in 2021.

We remain committed to recognising and sharing God’s faithfulness, seeking to honour Him in all we do in and through our Kingdom facility at Tumbi.
